OPP Out In Full Force This Holiday Weekend
The OPP would like to let the public know that they will be out in full force during the Labour Day long weekend to prevent unnecessary deaths and injuries by encouraging all motorists to drive responsibly. They remind motorists that driving is a complex task which requires your full attention.
While driving, the OPP expects the the public to be aware of the big 4:
- Obeying the posted Speed Limits
- always buckling up
- not Drinking or Doing Drugs and Driving
- and Paying Attention to the Road
While police are committed to raising awareness about the dangers of driving while distracted, they are also enforcing the legislation that carries tough penalties that go with it.
The set fine for distracted driving is $490 and 3 demerit points.
