Pharmacists Offer can now treat more common ailments at the pharmacy counter
Premier Doug Ford announced today that pharmacists in Ontario can now treat and provide drugs for thirteen common medical conditions, including rashes, pink eye, insect bites, and urinary tract infections. This in addition to renewing prescriptions for blood pressure, diabetes, and asthma drugs.
Nearly half of Ontario's 4,700 pharmacies have started offering this service since the start of the year, and more are expected to join soon.
Ford says there is no extra cost to Ontarians for receiving a prescription from a pharmacist for common ailments when showing an Ontario health card.
Sylvia Jones, Deputy Premier and Minister of Health urged residents to check with your local pharmacy to see if they offer this quick and easy access to therapy for common conditions.
