Police Recover Body From Severn River
Police have recovered the body of a swimmer who was reported as missing on the Severn River in Severn Bridge on Tuesday.
Police say that just after midnight on Tuesday, a group of coworkers were swimming in the Severn River near Hamlet Bridge 57 when they decided to go to bed. The following morning, the group were unable to locate one of their coworkers and police were called.
The OPP Emergency Response Team (ERT), Canine, the Marine Unit, and Aviation Services responded and searched the area.
After an unsuccessful ground search, the OPP Underwater Search and Recovery Unit (USRU) was called to conduct a search of the river.
After a short search the OPP USRU located the body of the swimmer. The deceased has been identified as 48 year old Juan Salazar-Hizen of North York, ON.
