Police Seize 525 Pot Plants At RIDE Check

On Friday April 2nd, the Almaguin Highlands OPP were conducting a RIDE check on Main Street in Kearney when a vehicle entered the check and officers detected an odour of what was suspected to be marijuana coming from the vehicle. Further investigation led officers to seize 525 marihuana plants.
27-year-old Ling Rong You of Markham has been charged with:
- Possession of more than four cannabis plants
- Possess, produce, sell, distribute or important anything with intention to produce, sell or distribute illicit cannabis,
34-year-old Zongxiu Jiang, also of Markham, faces the same charges and:
- Possession of proceeds of property obtain by crime over $5000
Both accused were released from police custody and are scheduled to appear in a Sundridge Court on Thursday May 13, 2021.
