Port Sydney Ruled Out As Possible Location Of A New Single Site Hospital - Aitchison
Huntsville Mayor Scott Aitchison told councilors on Monday that a Port Sydney location is a non starter for Muskoka Algonquin Healthcare (MAHC) as a location for a new single site hospital. Aitchison said the conclusion of that location, and other potential sites were ruled out by the MAHC's Healthcare Task Force at a recent meeting.
Aitchison said it looks like the MAHC and the Towns of Bracebridge and Huntsville are on the same page now and a recommendation of a one site or two site hospital is expected to be presented to the board by the end of July.
Speaking on the motion to dissolve the MAHC, Aitchison said not much is happening during the election, but several northern municipalites had supported the motion formally. Aitchison expects that the Ministry of Health and the new government will address the issue after the election.
The mayor also said that council should consider what things the town needs to see, for them to consider rescinding the motion.
The present danger to our hospitals is still the funding formula Aitchison said.
