Province Announces Funding To Connect 140 Homes To Natural Gas
Today, Norman Miller, MPP for Parry Sound-Muskoka, joined Todd Smith, Minister of Energy, at Huntsville Town Hall to announce that more than 140 homes and businesses in the Huntsville and Burk’s Falls area will be able to connect to natural gas thanks to the province’s Natural Gas Expansion Program.
Norm Miller says “Access to natural gas will help more families and businesses find energy savings, while promoting economic development and job creation across Parry Sound-Muskoka.”
The average household could save between $250 and $1,500 per year in energy costs by switching to natural gas from costlier fuel sources. Businesses are expected to save up to 30 per cent per year on energy costs.
Mayors of Huntsville and Burk’s Falls welcomed the government’s expansion plans, which they see as a boon for their local communities.
Mayor Karin Terziano “This announcement for natural gas expansion into the Hidden Valley area is great news for Huntsville and especially for the residents who will benefit from a more economical heat source.” Burk’s Falls Mayor Cathy Still echoed the sentiment, says “Infrastructure is the key to success for growth in all communities.”
