Province Announces Task Force To Look Into Flood Mitigation
Last week, the province announced the creation of a task force aimed at improving the province’s resilience to flooding, including the Muskoka Watershed, following record high water levels this spring.
Following up on a promise he made after touring flood damage last week in Muskoka, Premier Doug Ford and Minister John Yakabuski said in a release that the government will work to better plan for, and reduce the impacts of flooding.
The release says “The people of Ontario can’t go through this every year. Something needs to change.”
A task force will be formed and will consult with municipal leaders and other stakeholders in areas impacted by flooding, to come up with ways to improve the province’s resilience to flooding.
