Queen Street Bridge Repairs Delayed
Bracebridge residents are being advised that the Queen Street Bridge located between Entrance Drive and Shier Street is re-opened to pedestrian and vehicular traffic.
As the Rock Cut Bridge is situated over the CN tracks, CN requires that a representative of the company be present on-site at all times during the construction to address any potential conflicts between construction activities and passing trains.
The Contractor originally estimated that a representative of CN would be required on-site for ten consecutive days to complete the work. Accordingly, the Contractor closed the bridge on June 3, 2019 in anticipation of completing the work prior to the Canada Day long weekend, but due to the unavailability of a CN representative during the scheduled bridge closure, the Contractor has demobilized from the site and the bridge has been re-opened.
The rehabilitation project will resume and the bridge will be closed again when a final schedule can be determined.
