Ridership Is Up For Disabled Riders In Bracebridge
The number of Bracebridge residents using the municipal specialized mobility services has tripled over the past year, Bracebridge general committee heard during their latest general committee meeting.
The figures were part of a presentation wherein Hammond Transportation was awarded a five year contract to provide the service on behalf of the Town of Bracebridge
The committee heard that Town staff have reviewed current ridership figures and report that there are currently 126 approved riders. 113 of those riders are currently using the service on a regular or semi-regular basis.
The report indicated ridership demand tends to be very high during the peak periods of the day in the morning and afternoon and slower midday. Ridership demographics indicate that approximately 72% of riders are seniors.
Coun. Rick Maloney said there’s been a big push over the past year to get the word out on the mobility service, and it's starting to show with their increased ridership.
