Schools Could Close On Monday Due To Strike Action
The Canadian Union of Public Employees (CUPE) has provided notice that they will be starting a full strike and withdrawing of all services across the province on Monday, October 7, 2019. Trillium Lakeland District School Board says that schools will continue to remain open to staff and students for the remainder of this week.
The School Board is confirming details of the strike action and assessing the potential impact on school operations and say they want the school communities to be aware that this strike action by CUPE may result in school closures as of Monday, October 7, 2019.
TLDSB says families are strongly encouraged to begin making alternate childcare arrangements prior to this potential strike beginning on Monday.
TLDSB will communicate directly to parents and guardians once a decision is made about potential school closures.
