Second Drowning Of The Weekend Claims Life Of A Young Man
Yesterday, OPP recovered the body of a swimmer who failed to resurface on the Muskoka River in Bracebridge.
Police say on Saturday, shortly after 7:00 p.m., officers from the Bracebridge OPP, along with Bracebridge Fire, responded to a swimmer in distress on the south branch of the Muskoka River off Golden Beach Road. The 18-year-old male did not resurface and search efforts were assisted by the OPP Underwater Search and Recovery Unit.
The search was suspended due to visibility and safety concerns and resumed early on Sunday,. Shortly before 9:00 a.m., the body of the missing swimmer was recovered.
The identity of the deceased is being withheld pending next of kin notification.
