SIU Clears Huntsville OPP Officer
Ontario’s Special Investigations Unit ruled that no charges will be forthcoming for an OPP officer after an incident that took place on July 16th, 2018 that injured a 69-year-old man.
The man was allegedly involved in an altercation in Downtown Huntsville.
Police responded and apprehended the man, and during the arrest, a physical struggle reportedly ensued.
The man was transported to the Hospital, where he was treated for his soft-tissue injuries and diagnosed with three rib fractures, according to the SIU.
The SIU ruled the officer’s use of force corresponded to the man’s reported level of resistance during the arrest.
The SIU says the officer used no more force than was “reasonably necessary.”
The file has been closed by the SIU.
