Sledder pulled out of the water
At approximately 9:30pm on Sunday, the Kearney Fire and Emergency Services received a call of a snowmobile that had gone through the ice on Hazzard Lake in Kearney.
Emergency crews arrived on scene to find quick thinking neighbours after hearing calls were able to get the lone operator a rope and pulled him to safety.
After a quick assessment the patient was quickly transported to waiting Parry Sound EMS then Huntsville Hospital with non life threatening injuries.
It is estimated the patient was in the water for 15 to 20 mins.
Paul Schaefer, the Kearney Fire Chief says he cannot stress enough to stay off the ice if you do not know the conditions or area.
He says spring ice conditions can change daily. If you don’t know don’t go.
“This could have ended much worse,” he said.
