Swimmers Raise Money For Watershed Council & Fish Stewardship Foundation
The Lake of Bays shoreline preservation project swim finished up on Monday. A group of swimmers along with support boats arrived at the Government Dock on South Portage Rd in Dwight.
The lead swimmer, Glen Vickery, swam a total of 210km or the entire perimeter around Lakes of Bays. The swim started on May 19th of this year. He has averaged 2-3 swims a week reaching a total of 25 legs. Each swim ranged anywhere from 3-8km.
The swim has been in part, to raise money and awareness for shoreline preservation, with donations going to the Muskoka watershed council and the Andrew Danielle’s fish stewardship foundation.
They are over half way to their goal of raising $4,000.
