The future of the Corridor 11 bus is facing some uncertainty.

At last week’s District council meeting, it was agreed to fund the project until at least March. However, council also heard that costs for the service from Hammond Transportation are on the rise and they agreed to explore funding sustainability options and report back with recommendations, by March 2019.
The Corridor 11 Bus runs Monday to Friday, from Huntsville to Orillia, with connecting service to Barrie. It makes stops in Port Sydney, Bracebridge, Gravenhurst, Kilworthy and Washago. The service, which began in 2012, completes two commuter runs per day from Huntsville to Barrie, as well as a mid-day Huntsville to Gravenhurst run.

Based on four years of ridership data, the Corridor 11 Bus provides an average of 13 trips per day, 273 trips per month, and 3272 trips per year. Between 2015 and 2017, the District provided the Corridor 11 Bus an annual average operating subsidy of $32,000 or 44 percent of the total operating revenue
