TLDSB schools to close in the event of a strike
Trillium Lakelands District School Board says that as talks have broken down between the province and the Canadian Union of Public Employees (CUPE) and CUPE has given notice that they are in a legal strike position as of Monday, that schools will be closed in the case of a strike by the union.
The school board says that, CUPE members include secretaries, clerks, technicians, custodial and maintenance staff, and educational assistants. The TLDSB says union members are critical in keeping their school buildings and sites safe for students, not only for the cleanliness of our buildings, but for the support students receive each day.
Should there be a full strike on Monday, TLDSB school buildings and worksites will be closed to students.
The school board says more information will be provided in the coming days.
