TLDSB Sees Increase In Math Scores, Work To Be Done In Writing
Trillium Lakelands District School Board (TLDSB) has seen a 2 percent increase in Grade 3, and a 5 percent increase in Grade 6 math in EQAO assessment results. This is in spite of an overall decrease in math scores across the province.
The TLDSB also continues to outperform the province in Grade 9 applied math with an increase over last year by 5 percent.
Literacy scores for the Board remain fairly consistent in Grade 3 and 6, with the exception of Grade 3 writing, which had a decline of 6 percent.
Larry Hope, Director of Education for the school board says “We will continue to have high expectations for our students and for our staff as we continue our work in the development and student improvement in fundamental math skills. However we know we cannot lose sight of our literacy skills development, especially for our youngest learners,” he said.
More information the results may be found on the EQAO website.
