Two Snowmobilers Bodies Recovered
Police have released the identities of two snowmobilers who died after hitting open water in Georgian Bay.
Police say that at 6:08 p.m. on Sunday, the OPP Communication Center received a 911 call from a Victoria Harbour resident after hearing a call for help from the waters of Sturgeon Bay.
Emergency services personnel searched the area but were unable to locate any persons in distress in the search area which was dark and comprised of wide open water surrounded by broken ice.
Members of the OPP Underwater Search and Rescue Unit conducted a search for the missing persons and located two deceased persons in the water.
Police identified the victims as 49-year-old Jereld Bremner, and 19-year-old Donald Bremner, both of Coldwater.
