Walk A Mile In Their Shoes Event hopes to raise $30K for YWCA
The District of Muskoka has approved the request for a road closure for the YWCA’s Walk A Mile in Their Shoes event, in Memorial Park in Bracebridge on May 29th.
From 10:00am until 2:00pm Rene Caisse Lane, from Manitoba Street to Kimberly Avenue will be closed for the event to take place.
Everyone is welcomed to participate in this fundraiser event for gender-based violence prevention in Muskoka. The YWCA indicates, “People of all genders and ages are encouraged to walk a mile and show Muskoka that you stand in solidarity with women, girls, and Two Spirit, trans, and gender diverse and queer people who are at highest risk of experiencing gender-based violence this May.”
Comfortable shoes, a team jersey, organization uniform, or anything red are encouraged.
The goal is to raise $30,000 for youth in Muskoka, to help them develop safety, well being and healthy relationships. According to the YWCA, “When it comes to violence prevention, reaching youth of all genders during their most formative years is extremely important.”
