Watershed Council Advises MNRF That More Work Is Needed To Manage Flooding
More work needs to be done when it comes to flood preparation in Muskoka.
That was the word from the Muskoka Watershed Council in a letter to the Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry. In the letter, which was also distributed to Muskoka District councillors, Watershed Council Chair Kevin Trimble thanked the MNRF for the recent Flood Task Force and for inviting the Watershed Council. However, they went on to say simply updating the Watershed Plan is not enough to address future flooding in Muskoka.
Instead, The Watershed Council told the MNRF that the Flood Task Force should assess the area’s built and natural infrastructure so they can fully understand and effectively manage the impacts of flooding.
