WSIB Increases Frozen For Not For Profits - Miller
Workplace insurance rate increases will be frozen for all non-profits in Ontario, Norm Miller, MPP for Parry Sound-Muskoka, announced today.
The move comes after the Ontario government stepped in and worked with the Workplace Safety & Insurance Board (WSIB) to halt planned increases.
“Every day, non-profits are there for the people of Ontario,” said Miller. “Today we’re proud to be there for them. These organizations are the heart and soul of our communities and we need to do everything we can to make sure they can continue to do their good work,” he said.
Without a freeze, nearly 2,700 non-profits including daycares, legions, charities, women’s shelters, children’s aid societies, foodbanks, hospices, animal shelters, museums and others would have faced increases in their WSIB premiums. In the case of legions, most were facing 300 per cent increases.
