Big Beat BBQ
The Big Beat Bar-B-Cue features a banquet of smokin’ hot rock ‘n’roll, rhythm & blues – both contemporary and classic with special emphasis on Canadian artists. Added to the menu, you’ll hear generous helpings surf rock, garage, hillbilly boogie, and old school punk. Matt’s on-air mantra is: “More Rockin’ Less Talkin’!”
The show airs Sundays 10am-12pm, and repeats Monday evenings 9-11pm and Wednesdays mornings 12-2am.
Matt started playing in bands while at art college, and went on to co-found the rockabilly and western swing band The Tex-Styles in 1986, sharing vocals and song-writing chores with Fort Worth Texas native Ryan Wilson. The Tex-Styles had a successful six year run after which time Matt continued playing with his own trio and as a part-time member in several bands including The Tennessee Rockets and King David & The Pharaohs. Matt has also shared stages with members of the Downchild Blues Band, Jack DeKeyzer, and The Razorbacks.
Currently Matt is splitting his attention between The Swingin’ Blackjacks and as a solo performer and songwriter and as host of Hunters Bay Radio’s Big Beat Bar-B-Cue.
