I’ve called Huntsville “home” for most of my life, and I consider myself lucky to have grown up here in the 90’s and early 2000’s. I romanticize the past and have a special fondness for nostalgic Muskoka. It’s not lost on me how fortunate I am to have come up in the time of HHS Black Hole concerts (Whack Bowl for all the Gen X’ers); MTV Unplugged & Much dance parties; spending all my money (from working at Tasty Creem, slingin’ King Ferdies) at Queen Street North during Midnight Madness; and spending hours pretending to be a fly on the wall at Cripple Creek Music downtown. In my mind I’m still 16 years old, wearing flared cords and a seashell necklace.
I’ve loved theatre and music since as long as I can remember. I’ve had amazing teachers and mentors along the way like Doug Raisbeck (I still cherish every ‘Aardvark’ cartoon from him), Jeremy Waterhouse, Will Main and Glen Morgan. I wouldn’t be who I am today without their teachings in my early years. They all accepted and nurtured me as a young chaotic, hippie-hearted creative spirit.
I love road trips as long as I can drive and can curate the playlist. My heart is filled with 80’s and 90’s comedy quotes, spur-of-the-moment poetry, rose coloured daydreams and the occasional outburst of the Mr. Dressup theme song. I’m a bonfire guitar strummer and I love putting my poetry to music. I play guitar so I can sing, and I sing so I can play guitar.
I have diplomas in Music Business Management, and Music History, Theory & Practice from Granton Institute of Technology.
In my real life I’m an on-site sewage system designer and help my husband run his excavation company. I still haven’t decided what I want to be when I grow up. I live on my humble homestead with my husband who supports all my crazy ideas, and our two wonderful children.
I’m not allowed bringing home any more stray animals, although I’m sure that’s negotiable when the time is right. I spend my spare time in my gardens and roaming the back forty communing with my crows and chickadees.
I try to live my life with the excitement and hopefulness of a May 2-4 weekend, and I’m always ready with a soundtrack for every mood & adventure! I hope you enjoy my exquisite musical choices as much as I enjoy putting them together.
