Firefighters and other volunteers will be coming to your house tonight starting at 6pm
Tonight, the 37th annual Project Porchlight Food Drive kicks off in Huntsville and Lake of Bays. Starting at 6 p.m., fire trucks, OPP, EMS, Public Works, and the Motorcyclists of Muskoka will be traveling house-to-house collecting non-perishable food donations for The Salvation Army Huntsville.
Residents can take part by turning on their porch lights and leaving donations at the end of their driveways or on their porches. Volunteers and first responders will pick them up to support local families in need.
Also tonight, is the Firefighters Food Drive for the Burk’s Falls and District Food Bank in South Almaguin. Firefighters will be visiting Burk’s Falls, Katrine, Emsdale, Magnetawan, Kearney and Sprucedale to pick up healthy non-perishable food items.
Organizers say it’s a great way for communities to come together and help those facing food insecurity this holiday season.
