Swimmer fighting for his life, after being hit by a boat

The incident took place in Skeleton Lake

One person is in hospital with life-threatening injuries after a boating collision on Skeleton Lake in Muskoka Lakes Township.

Just before 5:00 p.m. on Saturday, July 19, Bracebridge OPP, along with emergency services, responded to reports of a boat colliding with a swimmer near Skeleton Lake Road 5.

Bystanders pulled the 22-year-old Georgina man from the water.  He was rushed to a local hospital and then airlifted to Toronto with critical injuries.

Police arrested and charged 39-year-old Richard Moore of Niagara Falls in connection with the incident. He faces charges including Impaired Operation Causing Bodily Harm, Failure to Comply with Breath Demand, Fail to Stop at Accident, and Failure to Comply with Release Order. Moore was held for a bail hearing on Sunday.

The investigation is ongoing, and OPP are asking anyone with information or surveillance footage to contact Bracebridge OPP or Crime Stoppers.
