Weezer’s Scott Shriner Set for Coachella Amid Wife’s Arrest

Thursday, 10 April 2025 18:33

Shriner's wife, author Jillian Lauren, who was shot by police and faces an attempted murder charge

Scott Shriner, the bassist for Weezer, is set to perform with the band at Coachella on Saturday, April 12, 2025, despite a recent family crisis involving his wife, Jillian Lauren. Lauren, a 51-year-old true-crime author known for her work on serial killer Samuel Little, was involved in a police incident on April 8 in Los Angeles.
According to the Los Angeles Police Department, officers were pursuing suspects from a misdemeanor hit-and-run on the 134 Freeway when they established a perimeter in the Eagle Rock neighborhood. During this operation, Lauren allegedly exited her home armed with a handgun. Authorities claim she was warned to disarm but instead pointed the gun at officers, prompting them to open fire. Lauren was wounded, retreated into her home, and later reemerged to be taken into custody. She was treated for non-life-threatening injuries and charged with attempted murder, with bail set at $1 million.
Despite this incident, Shriner has confirmed that Weezer's performance at Coachella will proceed as planned. He stated that Lauren is "all right" but declined to comment further on the specifics of the incident or the charges.
Lauren, who has been married to Shriner since 2005, is known for her best-selling memoirs and participation in the Starz docuseries "Confronting a Serial Killer." The couple has two adopted children.
As Weezer prepares for their Coachella set, fans are expressing support for Shriner during this challenging time. The band has not issued an official statement regarding the incident.
