Advertise On The Bay

Muskoka's Big Little Station

We are Muskoka's award winning, not for profit radio station - owned and operated by the community.

Hunters Bay Radio services an area from South River in the North to Kilworthy in the South, from Parry Sound in the West, to Algonquin Park in the East. Since our FM launch, we have been called “The Best Community Station in the Country” by industry insiders, we've also won Best Radio Station in the Huntsville Forester twice in a row - ever since this became a category!

We have been featured on CBC's "This Hour Has 22 Minutes", CPAC, in the Globe & Mail, and The National Post. In 2010, HBR won the "Best Use of Technology Award" at the Muskoka Community Network Awards.

The Bay has two studios. Our broadcast centre is located in Huntsville, Ontario and we have a studio at Sawdust City Brewery in Gravenhurst. Plans are in the works for a new studio in Bracebridge, at the Muskoka Foundry due to open in mid 2021. Together, these studios allow our volunteers and their guests to explore stories of interest to their respective communities.

Number 3 From Barrie to North Bay:
As of September 2015, The Bay was firmly in 3rd place for Facebook Likes from all major media from Barrie to North Bay, ahead of much bigger stations than us. HBR is 3rd for engagement behind B101 with 40K Likes, and Rock 95 with 17K Likes. Engagement is the amount of Clicks, Comments, Likes, and Shares.

What's interesting is that the Barrie Stations have way more fans than we do, nearly double or four times the number that we have, but comparatively, our engagement is much higher on a per fan basis. In other words, if we had the same number of fans as B101, we would have the most engagement of all radio stations.

In a nutshell, you could say that more people come to our page to learn, discuss, and share than any other station of our size or bigger. It shows that our listeners are firmly involved with us and not just listening.

Social Responsiblity:
We have invested over $300,000+ in not for profits in Muskoka and the Almaguin Highlands with proceeds from our media bingo.   Hundreds of hours are invested in Muskoka's biggest bingo each month to help ensure donations to the likes of Huntsville Hospital Foundation, Hospice Huntsville, Muskoka Seniors, Huntsville Legion and independent food banks from Gravenhurst to Burk's Falls.  Our partners in the Bay Food Crew (Bullock's Independent, Shoppers Drug Mart, Dairy Lane Dental, Dreams Becoming Reality Marketing and Capstone Markets) deliver tens of thousands of dollars worth of food to area food banks each year.

Keeping Our Money In the Community:
Every dollar earned is invested in our community, supporting local businesses.  During the pandemic, we invested over $50,000 to support businesses that were struggling.  All our profits are spent in Muskoka/Almaguin Highlands and not sent out of province like our competitors.

Investing in People:
We have created 6 full time positions, trained over 60 volunteers in the radio business.  We have prepared numerous students to go to broadcast school over the years and helped ensure they were at the top of their class with the training they received.  Many have gone on to positions in radio/tv.
