Lithium battery energy system being considered in Armour Twp
A Toronto-based renewable energy company, SolarBank Corporation, is proposing to install a lithium battery energy storage system in Armour Township. The company has submitted an application to amend the township’s Official Plan and Zoning By-law to accommodate the system. The township is now reviewing supporting reports and studies before moving forward.
The process is expected to take time, and local officials have clarified that no approval has been given yet despite rumors circulating online.
If the township approves the plan, public comments will be gathered before any decision is finalized.
The system would store power from the grid and release it when demand is high, with no staff onsite, as it will be monitored remotely.
