Officials with the MAHC addressed Muskoka Lakes council as the District of Muskoka prepares to review its $77.3 million commitment to MAHC's hospital redevelopment project. This funding, pooled with contributions from various stakeholders including hospital foundations, and municipalities, forms part of the $1 billion budget, with the municipalities committing $225 million and the province covering the remainder.

MAHC's board chair, Dave Uffelmann, and CEO Cheryl Harrison defended their "Made-in-Muskoka healthcare system" proposal, addressing concerns and emphasizing it's based on extensive data and healthcare expertise.

The plan aims to balance bed allocations between Huntsville and Bracebridge hospitals, optimizing services without duplication.

Despite community trust issues highlighted by local officials, the MAHC says they remain committed to ongoing consultation and refinement of their proposal.
