There is now a race for Mayor of Huntsville as Reuben Pyette files papers

Last week Huntsville resident Reuben Pyette filed his papers to run for the position of Mayor of Huntsville.   Pyette joins councilor Tim Withey in the race.

Pyette says he decided to run for Mayor as it seemed a better fit than counselor, add that “I have always acted as a critic of government. However being embroiled in conflict with the town over the past 2 years and seeing the constant conflict that has encompassed council in their decisions and the unnecessary strife created through Planning and counsel I felt a change was needed.”

Pyette’s concerns include the Official Plan, affordable  housing and property standards, saying that “while we have grown substantially over the past few years and built wonderful subdivisions through the community, none of the builds that we have created are affordable for the lower income workers that supply the labor for many businesses of the area.”

Pyette adds that the town needs to identify surplus properties that are not being fully utilized as well. Not just for parks but for living.
