Muskoka Algonquin Healthcare is celebrating the arrival of its first baby of 2026.
Derrick and Melanie Johnstone welcomed son Matheus at 3:40 a.m. on New Year’s Day. The healthy newborn weighed 8 pounds, 2.5 ounces. Hospital staff say the birth was smooth, and the proud parents are thrilled to start the year with their new little one.
Matheus joins the community in ringing in 2026 with joy and excitement.
