$4.5 Million To Replace Components Of The Pool In Huntsville
During the electronic general committee meeting in Huntsville on Thursday staff presented a pool assessment report. The pool is currently 36 years old, and it has been well maintained.
Staff told councilors that 3 of the pool tanks are identified for replacement in the 2021 Capital plan with a budget of $4.5 million.
The pool shells and mechanicals indicate a projected life span of another 5-10 years.
Accessibility requirements were not covered in the scope of the original pool audit however and those changes must be implemented by 2025.
Staff is recommending that all components of the pool, ie the pool shell, mechanical and accessibility issues be completed as one project to be completed by 2025, and that a public engagement process be undertaken a result. An aquatic center retrofit report will be brought back to council as part of the 2021 Budget.
