Bracebridge Fire launches door to door education campaign
The Bracebridge Fire Department launched its annual door-to-door smoke and carbon monoxide alarm campaign yesterday. The Dept. says that every Monday night from 7 to 9 p.m. until the end of August, uniformed officers will visit urban neighborhoods in Bracebridge. While firefighters will not be entering homes during these visits, their goal is to promote fire safety by encouraging homeowners to ensure their alarms are in working order.
It's mandatory for every home to have a working smoke alarm on each floor and outside all sleeping areas. Homes with fuel-burning appliances or attached garages must also have a carbon monoxide alarm outside sleeping areas. Regular testing of these alarms is recommended monthly.
