District offering free income tax services
With the 2023 tax-filing season upon us, the District of Muskoka is returning the Community Volunteer Income Tax Program.
The District registered with the CRA and works with community partners and volunteers to host free tax clinics across Muskoka. Volunteers file tax returns for eligible people with a modest income and a simple tax situation.
Mayor Nancy Alcock, Chair of the Community and Planning Services Committee says “Last year our tax clinic volunteers completed more than 1700 tax returns, so we know many residents in Muskoka are relying on these clinics to help with their financial security.”
To be eligible for the tax clinic program you must be a resident of Muskoka and your family income cannot exceed the total family income threshold as outlined on the District’s website at muskoka.on.ca/incometaxclinics.
