District Outlines Its Climate Change Initiative
Partnership is one of six pillars of The District of Muskoka’s climate change initiative called New Leaf: Muskoka’s Climate Change Strategy that was presented to Gravenhurst Town Council on Tuesday.
Kevin Boyle, the Climate Change Initiatives Coordinator at the District Municipality of Muskoka, says they already have partnerships and they’re looking for more.
Boyle says, “What we want to do is build a resilient community with an evidence-based approach, and really go for all hands on-deck.”
During the presentation, Boyle highlighted the district’s current partnership with Muskoka Steamships and Discovery Centre’s Sustainability Exhibit. He also says they are looking to partner with Trillium Lakelands District School Board’s G7 Summit, and that there’s has been interest from The Watershed Council, Muskoka Conservancy and other community organizations.
The other five pillars of the initiative are a climate change action plan, a corporate and community greenhouse gas initiative, outreach and education, and funding.
