District to rename Twelve Mile Bay Rd. in Moose Deer Point First Nation

A Muskoka road may soon get a new name as part of efforts to strengthen Indigenous and non-Indigenous relations. The District of Muskoka’s Finance and Corporate Services Committee is reviewing a proposal to rename Twelve Mile Bay Road, which runs through Moose Deer Point First Nation.
The name change is part of the Muskoka Area Indigenous Leadership Table’s efforts toward Truth and Reconciliation. If approved, a working group will begin the process this spring, with a new name expected in 2026.
