Gardiner Warns That Muskoka May Have To Go Back Into Lockdown
Dr. Charles Gardiner, Simcoe Muskoka’s Chief Medical Officer of Health is concerned about rising cases in the region and is considering asking the province to move the health unit back into lockdown.
The region, which includes the city of Barrie and Towns in Muskoka, has a total of 568 active cases which is more than 50% less than a month ago and is currently in the ‘Red-Control’ zone.
Gardiner says the region is also seeing a large number of cases of the B.1.1.7 variant and he will be monitoring the numbers over the next week.
Gardiner says “I’m watching this very closely. We need to be prepared to go into a shutdown again in the near future if we continue to see this.”
