Green's housing policy causes concern in Muskoka
The Green Party of Ontario’s proposed housing policy is raising concerns in Muskoka.
Local PC candidate Graydon Smith is accusing the Greens of treating rural Ontario like cities, with plans to build up to 11-storey condo towers on main streets in communities like Huntsville, Bracebridge, and Parry Sound. This includes allowing up to four residential units per detached house.
Smith argues this would force massive changes that municipalities may not want.
In response, the Greens defend their plan, which focuses on building more homes within existing urban areas and protecting nature.
They emphasize that the policy targets transit corridors in larger urban centers, not small towns, even though their platform indicates its a province wide policy.
