Health Unit warns of the dangers of extreme cold weather
The Simcoe Muskoka District Health Unit is reminding everyone that an extreme cold warning is in effect, and cold weather can be dangerous, leading to frostbite, hypothermia, and exacerbating heart or lung issues. Those most vulnerable include the elderly, children, and people with health problems.
The health unit says that to stay safe, dress in layers, monitor the weather, and seek shelter from the wind. Be aware of cold-related injuries and check in on neighbors and loved ones.
