Healthcare Provider Victim of Security Breach
Last Tuesday the Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care (MOHLTC) informed area LHINs of a cyber-attack against a home care service provider organization called CarePartners. All 14 Ontario LHINs use CarePartners’ services.
Since being notified of the cyber-attack, both the LHINs and CarePartners have taken measures prevent additional exposure and protect patient information, including the retention of cyber security firm to contain and determine the extent of the breach.
Authorities have retained the Herjavec Group (HG), a leading cyber security firm, to contain and determine the extent of the breach and to mitigate any risk. As well CarePartners’ is committing to provide ongoing credit monitoring for any individuals whose personal financial data may have been breached.
