During a rally at Memorial Park in Bracebridge, approximately 500+ people repeated the slogan "keep the promise," a call to Muskoka Algonquin Healthcare to build two full service hospitals in the region.

The rally, organized by the Save South Muskoka Hospital was aimed to support local physicians and expressed frustration with MAHC's plans for the future South Muskoka Memorial Hospital including the number of beds, transportation and emergency services.

Initially, MAHC's proposal, known as "Made-in-Muskoka Healthcare plan," was met with concerns over its cost-effectiveness. Following community and physician feedback, particularly regarding bed allocations, MAHC revised the plan in April.

Speakers emphasized the importance of equitable healthcare access and effective emergency response across Bracebridge and Huntsville.

Organization spokesperson Bruce Kruger praised a recent meeting spearheaded by Bracebridge Mayor Rick Maloney, attended by neighboring mayors, district officials, MAHC representatives, and local doctors. Reflecting on the meeting, Maloney underscored its importance in rebuilding trust among stakeholders.

The event featured various speakers, each emphasizing the need for a balanced hospital solution that ensures safety and effective emergency response across Muskoka.
