Huntsville using a phased in approach to development charges
Huntsville Council has approved a phased reduction in residential Development Charges (DCs), with the full discount taking effect in 2029.
During the December 9th meeting, the council passed the updated DCs by-law for 2025.
Starting in 2025, residential Development Charges will be reduced by 25%, allowing time for development to adjust.
The by-law also includes exemptions for secondary suites and affordable housing. Non-residential development charges will increase by $1,160 per unit for single and semi-detached homes and $14.22 per square meter for commercial projects, with adjustments based on construction costs each year.
