Local Physician returns from working at the Olympics

After an unforgettable experience at the Olympics, a Huntsville sports medicine physician is now back home. The Games, which Dr. Rich Trenholm described as a pinnacle of his career, came with strict posting restrictions and grueling schedules.

Trenholm says working long hours and covering 20,000 to 25,000 steps daily in intense heat proved exhausting. Despite the busy days, he made it a point to connect with family everyday.

Trenholm says it took years to be on Team Canada as a physician, “Years of volunteering at events that start off local and then gradually become provincial, national, international, multinational, and then eventually you can apply for the Olympics.” All told, Trenholm says it took him about 15 years to get enough experience to apply for Team Canada.

Now that he’s home, he is sorting through thousands of photos and videos to reflect on and share their remarkable journey.
