Huntsville's General Committee has moved forward with plans for the 2026 municipal election, instructing the town clerk to draft a bylaw for telephone and internet voting. The bylaw will be presented to Huntsville Council on February 24.

The election will take place on Monday, October 26, 2026.

In addition to the new voting method, changes to the election include merging Huntsville and Chaffey Wards and updating how the voters' list is compiled, now managed by the Chief Electoral Officer instead of the Municipal Property Assessment Corporation.

The six Muskoka municipalities will work together on election preparations, including selecting a vendor for the telephone and internet voting services.

The election budget is set at $178,310, with $41,000 in levy contributions for both 2025 and 2026.
