OPP offers tips to help reduce break-ins
The OPP is sharing tips to help prevent break-ins, a crime that remains all too common in Canada, with over 150,000 incidents reported each year.
Of these, 60% are residential. The OPP recommends keeping doors and garage locks secure, even when you're home, and trimming hedges to eliminate hiding spots.
Use timers for lights and motion-activated sensors to deter burglars. Ensure sliding doors are reinforced, and make your home look occupied with regular yard maintenance.
Additionally, engraving valuables and taking inventory with photos can help police recover stolen items. For more prevention tips, visit the OPP website.
