The society is looking to restore and maintain the 148-year-old church. The church was originally built in 1873 and contains the grave of Captain George Hunt, for whom Huntsville was named. Work needs to be done on the church’s foundation, walls, and roof.
The restoration of the church has been evaluated at a hundred thousand dollars and so far, with the community’s support Madill Church Preservation Society has raised 55 thousand dollars. The open house to view the church is on Sunday, August 29th.
