Residential Development Charges On The Increase In Huntsville
During Huntsville’s town council meeting on Monday night, the public portion of the Consultation process took place for changes to Development Charges.
Development charges are fees imposed to fund growth related capital costs. The charges pay for new infrastructure and facilities to maintain service levels.
The meeting then was open for public discussion, but no members of the public stepped forward. After much discussion council voted for the non-residential charges to have no increase in rates.
However, residential rates will be increase by 25% or $ 990 over previous rate. Staff was directed to prepare a by-law to be passed at the Dec 17th council meeting.
