Sledder Dead After Going Through Open Water
One man is dead after his snowmobilie went through the ice on Sunday.
Police (OPP) along with the Parry Sound EMS and Kearney Fire and Emergency Services responded around noon to reports of a snowmobile that went into the open water on Hassard Lake.
Police say that the driver of the snowmobile, 42 year old Shawn McAllister of Zorra Township was driving his sled on the lake in an area where there was open water when he fell in. The driver was eventually brought out of the lake but was unresponsive and pronounced dead at the scene.
Police would like to remind snowmobilers to check the ice condition before travelling on lakes, rivers or waterways.
