Swim Advisory At Port Sydney Beach

Posted: 2024-06-26 07:39:11 By: thebay

The Simcoe Muskoka District Health Unit has issued a Swimming Advisory for Port Sydney Beach, as testing has revealed elevated levels of E. coli bacteria exceeding recreational water quality guidelines.

Residents and visitors are advised that recent water samples indicate increased bacteria levels, which may pose risks such as minor skin, eye, ear, nose, or throat infections, as well as stomach illness.

Warning signs are posted at the beach during the advisory, cautioning against activities that could increase exposure to contaminated water, such as dunking your head or swallowing the water while swimming.

The health unit will continue to monitor the beach, and updates will be provided as new information becomes available.
