Terziano Calls On MAHC Not To Close Huntsville COVID Test Site
Huntsville Mayor Karin Terziano is hitting back at Muskoka Algonquin Healthcare’s decision to close the COVID-19 Test Centre and move all testing to Bracebridge.
In a letter to Cameron Renwick, board chair and MAHC’s CEO Natalie Bubela, Terziano says the move is entirely unacceptable and leaves the northern part of Muskoka and communities in Almaguin Highlands vulnerable during a pandemic.
Terziano also stressed that she is particularly concerned with the start of school next week and the potential for a second wave this fall.
The Mayor accused MAHC of having this plan in the works starting in July, yet no mention, communication or consultation was made – even though Terziano was present at the August 11th meeting of the board.
Terziano questioned the MAHC’s commitment to having an acute care hospital in Huntsville, despite assurances received in the past.
She called on Bubela and the MAHC Board to reverse the decision for a single testing centre.
